A country that used to lead now can't even cheat off the fucking answer sheet.

"a Republican Administration (either 2, 4 or 8 years from now)"

I'm now 1/3 serious about leaving the country if that happens. The republicans are dying off but not quick enough, and it's a nailbiting race for survival.

I just gotta figure out where to go. The coolest countries have the worst food.steevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12620735494191381865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7342454496014200176.post-91729503942598443152011-08-01T22:03:45.298-04:002011-08-01T22:03:45.298-04:00The "deal" only provides for a six-month...The "deal" only provides for a six-month extension of the debt ceiling, sets up yet another commission to recommend spending cuts, and establishes a process by which Medicare will start to be dismantled if congress fails to act on that commission's recommendations in January. In six months, of course, Republicans will throw the same tantrum they just did, and there will be no action.

The "compromise" enacts a trillion dollars in cuts over the next decade. To put that in perspective, simply ending the Bush-era tax cuts would have provided for $3.9 trillion, and, contrary to hysterical Republican ranting (endorsed by Obama) that this would crippled the economy, most Americans would barely even notice it (median household income is just a hair over $42,000 just now--a household in that range receives less than $18/week from those cuts).

The debt ceiling would have been raised if Republicans had been given nothing at all. As it stands, things worked out pretty much the way I said they would.classicliberal2https://www.blogger.com/profile/17960371221876522276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7342454496014200176.post-51176003779793019932011-08-01T22:00:38.773-04:002011-08-01T22:00:38.773-04:00WOW. You're like... channeling a cross betwee...WOW. You're like... channeling a cross between me and ClassicLiberal, I LOVE it! LOL.

Yeah, Finegold would be good, I suppose. (No one ELSE really leaps to mind.) But I'm afraid Obama's as good as it gets as far as the '12 primaries go. And they'll put up a psycho like Bachman or a Stuffed Suit like Romney and Obama will win.

And HOPEFULLY, (hope, hope) He'll make like Reagan did in HIS second term and FINALLY go crazy (only for OUR SIDE) and finally do what we elected him to do TWO YEARS AGO.

But you nailed it: The Republicans have no hearts (or brains!) and the Democrats have no balls. (Or brains either, it would seem!) I guerss the tin man is a Republican, the Lion is a Democrat and the Scarcrow is bipartisan. LOL. (The Wizard is still Ruppert Murdoch though, so we're still screwed until THAT curtain gets pulled back!) LOL

It's such a shame that as the Republicans have move to the Right, the Democrats have responded by moving TO THE RIGHT.

Thanks for your comment.Niceguy Eddiehttp://eddiecabot.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7342454496014200176.post-26971900699893515942011-08-01T19:51:14.878-04:002011-08-01T19:51:14.878-04:00Well, I did not think anyone could sound as outrag...Well, I did not think anyone could sound as outraged as I feel but you have managed to. I am sick of the GOP and Obama and I was sick of Lieberman when he was sucking off McCain during the 2008 election. I cant believe I said that! Well this crusading do-gooder Christian gets pissed off, too. What a bunch of weiners(Dems) and heartless pricks(GOP). I just hope we put up someone like Russ Feingold in the primary and get rid of the Neville Chamberlain of the Democratic party we have for a president. I think I will join Van Jones in a loud and raucous cry from the shores over on the left side of this great divide!Janet LaRuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07548074457924805219noreply@blogger.com
