Big News Day for Conservatives

The Pope has resigned for the first time since 1415 and the Republicans have managed to tank the economy for the first time since 2008.

Remember folks: Things started getting BETTER around March of 2009. That's when talk of stimulus started, and once that hit it's when the Stock markets turned around, it's when unemployment turned around, it when economic growth turned around.  And despite all they they kept saying "Obama made it worse," lacking even a single, solitary economic indicator that was on a negative trend to support their claims.

Assuming nothing is done to prevent massive cuts that were never supposed to happen?  Let's see who they blame, now that things are ACTUALLY going to get worse? As if I have to ask.

Mr. President?  THIS is why you need to stop these bi-partisan outreach efforts, that will be domed to fail.  The Republicans are traitorous scum who will consistently put party, self, and ideology ahead of Country, and remain more interested in your failure than the country's success.

President Obama and the Democrats stop this "everyone has a hand in it" nonsense. They need to call out Shitty Republican Policies, like Austerity, for what they are: SHITTY REPUBLICAN POLICIES. For Christ's sake come out swinging!  The Republicans haven't done a thing right for this country since Eisenhower! And it's about time the American People were reminded of that.

  1. "The Pope has resigned for the first time since 1415 and the Republicans have managed to tank the economy for the first time since 2008. " ... That's really odd. The headlines "I" see in the paper, today, say: "Washington braces for prolonged stand-off in the 'sequester' crisis as both sides neglect to seek out last-minute deal". That article says democrats AND (AND) republicans refuse to deal with each other. Did you see the word AND in there?

Why don't you "call out" those "shitty" policies you hate so much. From what I read, most of the cuts (in question) will occur in the Defense Dept. I've always thought your ilk hates the military, so THAT republican policy must be one of the better ones? How about the rest of them?

Personally, I don't think you actually did any preparation for this article. You just picked and chose certain phrases that make you sound better to your ilk. But, the FACTS can easily be searched and found: BOTH democrats AND republicans caused this mess. And NEITHER are willing to fix it. So, you keep bringing all your HALF-FACTS, your ilk soak that stuff up like water on a towel.

"The Republicans haven't done a thing right for this country since Eisenhower! And it's about time the American People were reminded of that." ... So, now you blame the republicans for the decline of morality in our nation? So expected of a democrat: blame ALL OTHERS and refuse to accept ANY responsibility for your own part.

  2. You mean THESE headlines:

    http://lb0.rsc.mematt.org/blog/2013/03/05/sequestration-and-how-the-liberal-media-keep-bl/192907

Headlines from a press that blames Obama for Republican intransience, and say "both sides are to blame" because the Republicans refuse to support any deal that has any revenue increase, despite the fact that 60-some% of America support the Center-of-the-road Proposals that the President has offered?

Those headlines aren't evidence of the coming storm being the shared fault of the Democrats. They are evidence that the myth of the "Liberal Media" who "defend Obama at any cost" is exactly that: A MYTH.

    As for the defense cuts...

You bring up an interesting point, and it's one where I disagree with BOTH sides. IMHO, BOTH sides actually get this WRONG.

The Con's get it wrong by fear mongering about our national security. Our defense budget is TWICE AS LARGE as that of Russia, China, France, and the U.K. COMBINED. That means we could cut it in HALF and still be outspending our two biggest Cold War enemies and two biggest NATO Allies COMBINED.

    So... We'll be FINE, security-wise.

The problem with Lib's calling for a slashed Pentagon budget, is that they fail to grasp the economic fallout of such a move. See, they CORRECTLY argue for unemployment benefits, welfare, social security, and other entitlements and government programs on that basis: That we get more economic benefit for them than they cost.

AND THAT'S TRUE. It's been studied, and it DOES benefit everyone, not just those that get a check.

But defense spending is no different: You've got Engineering jobs, Manufacturing jobs, Procurement, Sales, Logistics... And that's before you even cut into the actual MILITARY budgets, which would just mean even more people looking for work.

I agree with Eisenhower assessment, and that's the real problem: Our economy has become so dependent on defense spending - that we DON'T NEED, Militarily - that it influences our foreign policy, incentivizing unnecessary wars and police actions and other things that we shouldn't be getting involved with. (That's a view point that was once considered to be very Conservative, I might add.)

So while I agree that we need to STOP this, it's not something that can just happen - BOOM - all at once. It will take time to wean the economy off of this, and to allow these people time to move into other industries, and to give these other industries time to mature. IT has to be deliberately, over time.

Otherwise, you tank the economy. And I don't support ANY policies, Liberal or Conservative, Republican or Democratic, that will do that, unless there is some dire need behind it.

And there just isn't one here. This is just the Republicans making trouble so people won't look back in 4-8 years and realize that (once again) the Democrats pretty much fixed everything (again) after the Republicans fucked it all up (again.) And that's not a "dire need."

    1. "I agree with Eisenhower assessment, ... " ... Did that assessment come BEFORE or AFTER he started the Viet Nam war? Is starting the Viet Nam war the last "right thing" done for this country by republicans? Your view of right/wrong seems a little off. You want some government hand-outs to tide you over?

"This is just the Republicans making trouble so people won't look back in 4-8 years and realize that (once again) the Democrats pretty much fixed everything (again) after the Republicans fucked it all up (again.)" ... The democrats are the ones to fuck things up. Their closed minded approach on any subject excludes them from possibly helping cure anything. The only thing they want is another piece of the pie. Republicans (at least) work for what they get. Republicans pay more taxes than any other group. Nearly half of America pays no income tax. You want to take a poll and see if they are republicans or democrats who comprise that 46%? All the whining done to denigrate and minimize the good that republicans do, and the best you can do is; 'oh yeah, well you people suck more'. Great
