In an era long since mired in big money, performance enhancing drugs and "professionals" who simultaneously treat it like it's no more than a
job, but then act like prima-donnas anyway, it is sad to hear of the passing of yet one more who played and treated the sport as it was meant to be, always having fun and remembering that it was first and foremost a
game.

Rest in peace, Ernie. The good news is that there IS baseball in heaven. The bad news is that you're starting at Short today. Have fun, and "Let's play two."
