*sigh*
I’ve really been losing heart lately.
The Phelps piece was totally draining for me to write, because it really is a lose-lose scenario. I still feel like crap for having to come down on the side of shitstain like Phelps, and feel even worse that my feelings haven’t really changed much since writing it. Sometimes I find that when writing something and laying out my argument that my feelings on the matter change during that process. That the arguments that sounded fine and dandy in my head, sound absurd once I put them down on paper, (so to speak.) And the Phelps piece could easily fall into that category, bar the fact that I still feel the same way. (And still feel completely and utterly awful about it.)
But beyond any one issue, there’s been a growing sense of helplessness in my mind lately. Some of it comes from the continuing erosion of public support for the Democrats, and how they will now likely lose control of at least the House if not the Senate. Part of it comes from the fact that they DESERVE TO, having abandoned their voting base, accomplished very little, and failed to really sell what they did, after having made concession after concession to the Right, all in a vein effort to win their support – which they never would. And perhaps the worst part of it all is that the general perception (according to narrative being played out in the media) is that they’re losing because they tried to be too Liberal. This narrative has been carried by the Beltway Press since the Carter days, and while there has NEVER been much actual evidence to support it, there is far less now than there has ever been.
The REALITY is that the Republicans have actively tried to sabotage everything Obama and the Democrats have tried to do, even as this has caused people to lose their homes, lose their unemployment benefits, and forestalled the country’s economic recovery until such time as it would be politically advantageous for them. And for all their treasonous, anti-America scumbagery, PEOPLE ARE REWARDING THEM.
What a joke. Obama’s too liberal – even though no part of the liberal agenda has come to pass – and it’s his fault the country’s in this mess – even though it started under Bush, and has been on a steady path to recovery, despite every effort made by the Republicans to prevent this.
The public is being actively misinformed. And they have no fucking clue. None at all.
And it’s not like I haven’t been aware of this for years. It’s not like my frustration with utter stupidity possessed by the average American is anything new. But while I’ve been both a skeptic and cynic my whole life, I guess for one brief moment, between the time the Democrats took back the House in '06 and Obama won the Presidency in '08, I thought things might change. For one brief period of time, I let myself BELIEVE. I had FAITH. But I guess I also seriously underestimated just how stupid this country is, and how easy it would be for the uber-rich and the RW Media (which is ALL of the media!) to simply GIVE power back to the Right. I really didn’t think people would forget how badly the Republicans fucked everything up quite this quickly, especially as the Democrtas have made some progress FIXING almost everything. IOW - the COURSE is basically right, we just not going fats enough, thanks to the Repulicans, so people want the Republican's to set the course.
It's makes no damned sense at all.
And not only are the Republicans are running against a recovery that they fought against, and incumbantcy that has been slowly but surely cleaning up their messes for the past four years, reversing the downward death spiral that we were in when the Dem’s came to power in 2006 and that we in the absolute depths of when Obama was elected in 2008… And yet not only are they winning, but the candidates they are winning with candidates who are like everything that was wrong with the ones that lost in 2006, SQUARED! I swear… the next time I hear one of these god-damned tea-baggers saying that we need to cut spending to create jobs, or cut taxes to fix the deficit, I am going to punch them square in the face! (And while they’re on the ground, as I continue kick the shit out of them, maybe I’ll take the time to educate them about how progressive taxation systems or macroeconomics work.) Reagan & Bush’41 CREATED the fiscal problem, Clinton fixed it, Bush’43 brought it right back, and these people want to go BACK to those morons, even as the economy recovers under Obama!
It's utterly insane.
I’d say they deserve what they get, but the problem is that the rest of us DON’T.
Anyway, thanks. Thanks for listening to me piss and moan. I really needed that. I want to leave you with something I came across the other night from a webcomic I’ve started reading recently called “Venus Envy.” (Which is really, really GOOD, BTW! Strong, complex characters, good plot with clever twists, funny as hell at times, dark and tragic at others. Definitely a future Silver Star recipient, although probably not this month.) This is a rather old piece, and it's not a piece from the actual storyline, but rather an expression of the author's frustration with the results of the 2004 election that perfectly echoes not only how I too felt at the time, but how I have increasingly come to feel in over the past two years, and particular in the past few months. I couldn’t say it any better, and don’t really want to try (again) so here it is:
You’re beautiful, Erin.
And BTW, I love her follow-up reply, to the emails basically telling her to STFU and ‘get on with the story.’ All I can say is, "Wow. Damned strait! You go, girl!"

Republican Propaganda Video that shows how STUPID Repubicans really are!
(Warning: The following contains some course language, even for this blog.)
(But read it anyway! LOL)
I'd like you all to see something. You may have already caught it (like syphilis) on YouTube. It was emailed to me but a *ahem* close relative. The email simply said "New Republican Video - Wow." I might say the same thing, although where he meant it to be complimentary, I would mean it like, "WOW, now isn't THAT a load of horseshit?!" Or, "WOW, you Republicans sure are stupid! I can't believe you buy into this tripe!"
So please... Take a look... and then humor me, as I destroy it.
Now right off the bat, I;'d like to say that I'd agree 100% with the first 1:18 of it... Assuming it had been put together by a LIBERAL that is.
First of all who's this "we?" WTF is with this "we elected you" shit, seeing as this nothing but is Republican / Conservative / Tea Party / Right Wing Propaganda?! Um, no, sorry Conservatives, but WE elected Obama. You lot voted for the Crusty old White Guy and Caribou Barbie. And it's a bit late to jump on the bandwagon.
And as for being disappointed? Yeah, you;re god damned right we are! Because the guy we elected and the Congress we elected has done everything humanly possible bar picking you up and carrying you into the room, to include you in every conference and every negotiation and has made concession after concession to you fools. I'd almost say "short of letting you write the legislation" but between the absurd and unnecessary (and unpopular) compromises and the actual (formerly) Republican proposals and the stuff that your former lobbyists - now Democratic lobbyists only because they saw which way the wind was blowing before you did - wrote? You assholes HAVE WRITTEN a disproportionate amount of the ACTUAL legislation! You just oppose it now because the other party might benefit if they pass... ANYTHING AT ALL. So stuff this "we elected you crap." No one involved with this video voted anything but a strait Republican ticket and YOU KNOW IT.
(Note: I truly though this at this point, but by the end I wasn't sure sure...)
It goes on to say that, in 2010, "You will lose." OK fine, rally the troops. It IS Republican Propaganda after all. Um... You DO know that President Obama isn't RUNNING in 2010 though, right? Well, whatever. You'll get back some seats back fine. Let's see what you'll do with them:
NO MORE TAXES.
Wow. And they say we're fiscally irresponsible! Oh my God.... Not "No NEW taxes" (they tried that one once, didn't they?) or "No HIGHER taxes" but "NO MORE TAXES." There people sure know how to over-promise don't they? I mean, if the promise THAT to get elected in 2010, don't they think their base might be a wee bit disappointed come 2012? Trust me, the Democrats are seeing right now what happens when you run on one thing and then deliver something else. Beside how will you pay for...
NO MORE SPENDING.
Oh.
I see.
Hmmm... No taxes... No Spending... Sounds like there's no goddamned government at all! Don't you people even want to "support the troops" or something? Hasn't all your concern about the deficit and social security and Medicare and Medicaid been because they'll "bankrupt the government?" Well... i guess you solved that. NO MORE FUCKING GOVERNMENT. Great. Nice job.
NO.
MORE.
SOCIALISM.
This one may be a lot tougher than it sounds. See... at the moment? There's absolutely NONE. So... ANY AT ALL would constitute a failure here. 0 for 3 methinks. Three up, three down. And we're through the first inning. (Maybe what they lack in "socialism" they'll make up for in Anarchy?)
Moving on...
So scary stuff gets shown REALLY QUICKLY with hammers and sickles, followed by:
We tried to warn you.
Of... WHAT, exactly? Communism? A Soviet takeover of America? WHAT? I mean... how often can you predict the end of the world before everyone realizes, "Hey, they've been 'warning us' for, like, YEARS now, and the world is totally still here! These people are nut-bags!"?
But we "Wouldn't listen" so now "We'll pay."
Wait... I thought there wouldn't be any more taxes? Actually this "We tried to warn you" and "You wouldn't listen" so now "You'll Pay" stuff? Would play GREAT as something a LIBERAL might send to the DEMOCRATIC PARTY. After they take they licks in November maybe? We should spam Sec. Gibbs in-box with that, no? Maybe they'll get the message. As for Conservatives... I haven't been exactly sure what world they've been living in since about 1992.
And WHY will "we pay?"
FREEDOM
Oh my God! You mean... You're going to protect abortion rights, allow gay marriage, legalize marijuana and guarantee everyone's freedom to practice our religion as we choose or to not practice at all and to keep our children free from other people, like teachers, forcing their religion on them?
You're a THREAT.
Oh... I see. You mean, "FREEDOM" as in "Freedom to live the way we let you." Sorry. My mistake. Please continue.
To our economy.
Wait... What about Freedom? What are they threatening again? What do you think will happen to "the economy" when there's "No more spending?" Don't you think some of those millions of people who will now be out of a job might be a bit of a drag on the economy? Especially with "no more taxes" being collected to pay unemployment benefits? In the words of Lando Calirssian, "This deal is getting worse all the time!"
(BTW... Democrats do a better job with the economy.)
To our health care.
Well, yeah... I mean, without the public option, the Health Care bill amounted to little more than massive corporate welfare for the insurance companies. But then... Oh wait... That was taken our to please you people... And yet you STILL couldn't get on boar!. Even though... mandatory insurance (for example) was a Republican idea. (Governor Mitt Romney-R, MA, IIRC) So... What the hell are you talking about? You people and you former lobbyists wrote almost the whole damned thing! So.. you might be right here... But, again, only if a LIBERAL made this video!
To.
our.
individual.
liberties.
Like... The liberty to not bear all the children God "blesses" you with? Of the Liberty to marry someone of the same gender? Or the liberty to smoke... Ah, never mind. We've been over this. You people better make sure none of your constituents (1) really take this seriously and (2) own a dictionary. Or you're in trouble!
You bet the farm.
When?
Government takeovers
Huh? Of what? General Motors? WTF are these people talking about? When Hugo Chavez performed a "Government takeover" of Chevron, do you think HE gave them $70 Billion? Buuuuulllshit! He just said, "it's mine now, fuck you." Now THAT'S a "government takeover." This? This was buying stock and guaranteeing loans in order to save about 30 Million jobs. And do you know what? It fuckin' WORKED. And GM will be making their IPO in just a few weeks. After which the Government will start seeing a return on their investment, after getting their money back. So... THANK GOD they bet the farm I guess, huh?
Bailouts
Um... the Bank bailouts were all Bush.
Liberal Policies
I've said it before and I'll say I'll say it again: WHAT FUCKING LIBERAL POLICIES?! NAME ONE!!!
Wait... Maybe there's some coming up... I'm pretty curious to see exactly what Obama HAS done for Liberals myself, so let's watch:
TARP
$700 Billion
That was Bush.
Federal Stimulus
$1.2 Trillion
That was Bush.
Sure Obama had his too but... is it REALLY better to just let the economy collapse? Oh wait... yeah, that's right... according to your "No taxes / No spending" platform, apparently it IS. Wait a sec... Wasn't that the total cost of Bush's two wars? Or was that Bush's final budget Deficit? Because I though Obama's first budget deficit was something like $1.3 Trillion. Oh well.
Federal Reserve Rescue
$6.4 Trillion
THAT was Bush.
Holy shit. Maybe a liberal DID put this together!
Tax.
Spend.
Redistribute.
Riiiight. Because taxing the middle class and giving money to bankers, and multinational corporations is really LIBERAL policy. You know it's bad when just TALKING about STOPPING the UPWARD redistribution of wealth (and not really even DOING anything about it) is met with howls and cries of "COMMUNISM!" And you KNOW someone's really drinkin' the Vodka when BLUE COLLAR AMERICA keeps BUYING IT year after year!!!
We're BROKE.
News to me. We've been dancing to this tune for that past 30 years, save for two years under Bill Clinton. And there's been a Republican in the White House for 20 of them. (More on that coming up...)
Or did you mean the Republican National Committee?
Now... I almost spit my coffee out at the graph that came up next, from 2:11 to 2:16.
Pause it there for a second, because this is important. In fact... THIS, more than anything else, actually made me believe that a Liberal DID put this together, just to see how stupid Conservatives were. You see how it starts in 1980? The year RONALD REGAN WAS elected? And you see how the deficits pretty much just get bigger and bigger right up until about... 1992? When BILL CLINTON was elected? Then they start getting smaller and smaller until there's a surplus for several years? Yeah. And according to this very graph THAT gravy train ends... IN 2002! The VERY FIRST YEAR that GEORGE W. BUSH BUDGET was in effect!!! And after that we see some REALLY BIG DEFICITS! And the last bar on the graph? 2009? Yeah, you see THAT was ALSO a Bush Budget! Obama was ELECTED in 2008. He didn't take office until 2009, and at that time the BUSH Budget was still in effect! It doesn't include a SINGLE YEAR of Obama deficits! NOT ONE! That graph? It's DEMOCRATIC propaganda! And they don't even realize it!
Who's the fool here? Are Conservatives REALLY this stupid, or am I just slow to get our side's little prank? In any case, I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you're concerned about the deficit, for fucksake don't vote REPUBLICAN!
+10% Unemployment
Man. That's pretty bad, huh? Imagine what it might have been without all that stimulus money, huh? George W. Bush sure did leave under a pretty big shit-pile to dig out of, didn't he?
and now you want...
our health care?
I'll assume that this came out, like, a year ago, but how does stopping insurance companies from capriciously screwing over the customer to protect their own profits even as people literally DIE from lack of health care - and this in the most prosperous nation in the world- constitute, "wanting our health care." I'm not even sure I really know what that means. Because, yeah I "want our health care." As in: I want us to HAVE SOME. Oh well, moving on...
(Great picture of Harry Reid coming up at 2:27, BTW. I wish it was a little higher resolution. I'd blow it up, make it into a poster and hang it on my wall. Maybe I'll stick in the blog somewhere. LOL)
I'm sorry if I missed the joke, but the more I watch this, the more I think that a Liberal really DID make it, just to see if the Conservtaives would fall for it.
Backroom deals.
That was Cheney.
Payoffs.
That was Abramoff. (and Bush, and Cheney, etc...)
Blatant and Shameless Bribes
Well, yeah, you've got us there. But we had to do SOMETHING to get a Republican or two on board for the health care bill. So...
We've had enough.
I've had enough of this video. And of Conservative lies and of America's totally fucking ignorance and naivety regarding you people.
We're taking our country back.
To 1860?
From Radicals
Like the TEA PARTY?
Leftists
Name one. (OK, yeah, but no one really takes Dennis Kucinich seriously!)
And Liberals
[Up], [Up], [Up], [Up], [Home], [End], [Ctrl-C], [Down], [Down], [Down], [Down], [Ctrl-V]
We're coming after you
Well, you did LOSE, so you couldn't have possibly come BEFORE us. If you'd WON, we'd be coming after you. Inspiring stuff though. Love the music. Very "Hollywood trailer." All they needed was Don LaFontaine to narrate.
AMERICAN RISING
Well... here's hoping the Democrats finally wake the fuck up anyway. I'm not sure where they've been for the past two years. As for America? Probably more likely to take a nap for the next two years. They'll probably "wake up" sometime in late 2012.
November 2, 2010
(In case those senior citizens at the Tea Party rallies who want to keep Government out of Medicare forget the date.)
Now... the next part, from 3:06 to 3:11, I think, finally shows what the Republicans are REALLY offering, what they REALLY stand for. Don't you agree?
I'm sorry.
Did I miss the point of this? Or are Republican voters REALLY this fucking stupid?

Prop H8TE
*phew*
If it's OK with everyone else, I'd like to get away from debating the philosophy of religion for a while - at least until the comment to my last post start rolling in. But I've been writing for the last week or so on the topic, and even I'M getting tired of hearing what I have to say about it. LOL. In all seriousness, I do look forward to reading your comments, but for now I'm going to take up some current events.
Like HOW ABOUT that Prop H8TE ruling out in California, huh?
The courts are finally starting to get it RIGHT! Hopefully that will continue and Justice Kennedy won't balls it all up when it inevitably makes it way to the SCOTUS.
But, needless to say, I am very glad to see it ruled such. And to me this issue is a no-brainer. (And go figure that those who support banning gay marriage and Prop H8TE have no brains.) Between Rush Limbaugh wetting his pants about how we're living in Tyranny, and how we're weakening the constitution and these idiots who think the judge should have recused himself or that he's out of the mainstream and the bed-wetter on NPR this morning crying about "his vote doesn't count" and how "it's like a dictatorship..."
My God, even if I didn't care about the ruling, you've got love ANYTHING that pisses of the Right Wingers and Religious Conservatives that much. LOL
OK, one at a time...
"We're living in Tyranny" or "It's like a dictatorship."
Give me a freaking break. This is not "like a dictatorship." THIS is like a CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY. See... in a dictatorship, you don't GET to challenge the law. And the rights of people get taken away without recourse. So... please explain to me how guaranteeing people equal protection under the law and protecting their LIBERTY is tantamount to "tyranny." It's absurd. All this judge did was to tell one group of people that the don;t have the right to DICTATE the behavior of another group. PERIOD.
And last time I checked, "Freedom to take away someone else's freedom" was not it the Constitution!
"Out of the mainstream"
Posters T.Boone Slickens and Highlighter seemed to think that because 7 Million people voted for it, that makes Prop H8TE, the MAINSTREAM school of thought.
What they fail to grasp is that if a law is unconstitutional, kit doesn't matter HOW MUCH popular support it has! Segregation was pretty popular in the states that had it. (Remember - prop h8te was just a California thing, just a STATE thing!) And the courts saw the insanity and stuck those laws down - that's why we HAVE THEM. That's was "limited government" is all about! PROTECTING PEOPLE'S RIGHTS! And that will ALWAYS be in the "mainstream" of Constitutional thought, because that's what the Constitution DOES!
It's an inherently Liberal document today, and was a FLAMINGLY liberal document when it was written!
What's more, I don't use the segregation issue lightly. I choose it because the arguments being presented in opposition to gay marriage are almost word for word the same arguments used a generation ago in support of anti-miscengeny laws! Replace racial bigotry with sexualist bigotry and you're saying the SAME. DAMN. THING!
"The judge (who's gay) should have recused himself."
MMFA does a pretty good job, shooting this one down, but to me it's even more simple. If we are to assume that a gay judge can't be objective about gay issues, we must also assume that a CHRISTIAN judge cannot be objective on church-state issues! Like, say... for example...
GAY MARRIAGE!
The law got shot down because you don't take away people's liberty and deny them equal protection under the law without a compelling state interest. And the supporters of Prop h8te, and all opponents of gay marriage for that matter, have never come CLOSE to demonstrating one. Not. Even. Close.
EVER.
[some nonsense about the] "Traditional Definition of Marriage"
This might be the single dumbest line of reasoning of all. Look... marriage CHANGES. The TRADITIONS of marriage CHANGE. If they didn't? If we stuck to the REAL "traditional definition of marriage?" Well... that's a father marrying of his daughter to a young man of his choosing, in exchange for a dowry. So it seems to me that the "traditional definition of marriage" is closer to what we call "PIMPING" today.
And if you're worried about the institution of marriage being threatened, outlaw DIVORCE. (Something that was also illegal at some point! See? THINGS CHANGE!)
[some nonsense about] Our "Christian Values"
If your argument against gay marriage has the word "bible" ANYWHERE in it, SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP.
The first amendment states very clearly that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. That's word for word, CRYSTAL CLEAR. So ANY argument made on the basis of religion is 100% irrelevant. When our elected officials take their oath of office, they put their hand on the Bible and swear to uphold the Constitution - not the other way around!
I enthusiastically applaud this ruling, and I see it as the beginning of the end of ACTUAL Religious Tyranny on this issue. And I say, "Good riddance."
There will no doubt be more to come. Gay Marriage is INEVITABLE. There may be set backs, but - just as with Marijuana - the genie is out of the bottle. Why conservatives insist on constantly trying to pull the juggernaught backwards I'll never understand.

Taking it Down, point by point
I mentioned a few posts back that I found this highly offensive piece of RW garbage on an autism discussion blog. It has little to do with autism,well... nothing really. Which is about all it has to do with REALITY. So while most of you will be in the choir for the following bit of preaching, just in case there are any conservatives who stumble by, I'd like to show that we can, in fact, "defend [our views] by reasoning and logic when challenged." It is in fact the person that WROTE this who has a mental disorder, and I'm not talking about his (supposed) Aspberger's Syndrome. More like leprosy of the brain. I'm going to go just about line by line here, just for fun. Maybe I can get some of the fools to stop taking for granted everything Fox and Limbaugh tell them. Maybe get them to question some of those "sacred dogmatic assumptions" I was talking about in my last post.
First problem: ATHEISM does not equal LIBERALISM. (Chris Hitchens, for example, is no liberal!) Second problem: There is no school of political thought of philosophy which is a "mental disorder," either on the spectrum or otherwise. Maybe you should try actually examining something BEFORE you judge it.
Oh, this should be good. Remember now: LEWD, LEWD (!), off the wall beliefs!
Turn off the AM radio for five minutes, and open your mind for some strait talk. First off all: NO ONE worships Obama like a God. That's RW nonsense, fabricated because we don't accept their predisposition to automatically judge him badly over ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. Treating someone fairly is NOT "worshiping them" in the case of someone we judge well in the end, nor is it "HATE" in the case of someone that we judge poorly, like YOU or whomever you got this email from. Second: WHAT failure? Seriously. The economy's improving, the Dow's up, The War is going better than ever, more people will have health care, banks will be better regulated... WHAT FAILURE?! The only "failures" are the unnecessary concessions he's made to the REPUBLICANS. Finally: Almost no one is baselessly calling you lot "racists." That's another RW lie. I've got ten people acting like the victim for every actual accusation. It's nonsense. You want to know why we might think you're a racist? Because you think the president is a failure without ever being able to give and example of an actual failure! So... what SHOULD we conclude exactly? Give us another reason, and we'll gladly debate you on that level.
NOBODY believe this. PERIOD. NO ONE. A company becoming "too large" means that if they fail, they could take down the whole economy, or have to be bailed out by tax payers. And NO ONE (Lib's OR Con's) likes doing THAT. It's not about being JUST, it's about managing risk, and the conservatives are largely on board with that now, they just don't want to let OBAMA sign the law. So to prevent him from getting credit for fixing the mess, congressional republicans are acting like babies and risking another meltdown. Also - no one HAS EVER proposed 90% tax rates. That's a pure, baldfaced, unadulterated LIE. (And/or you don't know how a progressive taxation system actually works.) I'm not going to explain it all here, but even when we had a TOP TIER income tax rate of 90% (back in the 1940's and 50's) NO ONE was shelling out 90% of their income to the gov't. Only 90% of their income OVER THE AMOUNT WHERE THAT RATE KICKS IN. Their effective rate was not much higher than anyone else's, since we all pay the samey rate of the first X dollars we all make, rich or poor. And in any case, NO ONE is proposing bringing that top tier rate back. NO ONE. If you heard we were, who ever told you that IS A LIAR. PERIOD.
More utter nonsense. We "hate" Islam every bit as much as we "hate" Christianity. Which is to say, that we don't hate either, but we will also treat neither as "sacred" and will hold BOTH accountable for their misgivings. You vastly overestimate the threat of terrorism, relative to our RESPONSE to it, and as far as those poor towns and villages go? Hey - we don't like religious dictatorships over there anymore than we do over here. But the answer is to separate church and state, not to create a Christian theocracy over here to balance out the Muslim caliphate over there! Other than the likes of Limbaugh and Coulter I'll never understand where you people get the idea that we all LOVE ISLAM. How does not wanting people killed, blown up and tortured, FOR NO REASON, AND WITHOUT DUE PROCESS constitute "love" or "support"? I mean: THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE ATTACKING THEM FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE, RIGHT? How on earth do you justify do all the same things that you are using to show how bad they are?! Bigotry justified by religion is NEVER acceptable. It's wrong when THEY do it,m and it wrong when YOU do it. The difference? You're HERE. You're IN THIS COUNTRY and INFLUENCING THIS COUNTRY'S LAWS. They're not. So you DO pose a great threat to our freedom than they do. Because YOU have power here and they don't. So sue me for not granting you unlimited power.
I'm not even sure what the first line means. Are you talking about animal rigths activists? Or people who try to protect endangered species? If so: What gives you the right to inflict pain on, or commit genocide on, an animal? I'm not exactly an animal rights activist myself (I eat the meat & wear the leather, baby!) but I'd LOVE to hear you're justification for driving a species to extinction just so we can cut down a few more trees. As for the illegal aliens and terrorists? No one is proposing giving them MORE RIGHTS than citizens. That's BALONEY. At best, we'd treat them as EQUALS. And the REASON for this is one that you conservatives should be able to appreciate: We don't trust the government! Yes, you read that right,. We don't want to give the gov't the authority to torture, or detain without process or performer unreasonable searches and siezures because once you give them authority they will inevitably abuse it. THAT'S why we want ALL people treated as well as Americans: The preamble says "inalienable HUMAN rights" not "inalien, AMERICAN rights."
That's generous, seeing as how you haven't presented a shred of evidence of that.
Wow, how profound, considering how you haven't presented a shred of evidence of that! (You've only proven that you do not, in fact, understand ANY of the positions liberals actually hold!) And as I said in the beginning, why don't you try examining and understanding something first, BEFORE you judge it or classify it.
Yeah... that's because our "wonderful educational institutions" insist on pesky things like FACTS and EVIDENCE to back up a theory, before reaching any conclusions.
No. This is not what you really mean. What you meant to say was, "It baffles me though how liberals will not only dissent for the sacred dogmatic assumptions that we hold dear, but will hold anyone who holds these dogmatic assumptions to be sacred in high contempt." Now... if you'd said it THAT WAY, you'd be right. You see... "Common sense" as you put, requires you to buy into to all that sacred dogma that you never really think about; never really examine. If you'd take the time to do so objectively? You'll find that rather a lot of it doens't make any sense at all, and that which does requires you to see it only from a single point of view. And if you feel you're being abused, maybe we're just getting back for the ~20 years of abuse we've suffered at the dishonest hands of Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter, etc... and the kind of people who WRITE trash like this!
You haven't DONE this. Your distorted presentation of our so-called "positions" and "beliefs" is proof positive that you've NEVER spoken to any actual liberals. You're just going with the distorted view of liberalism that the arch conservatives and hard-core right wing have given you. It does not resemble any REAL LIBERALS at all!
What an absurd question! OBAMA IS NOT A MARXIST. We wouldn't even HAVE an answer, because most liberals aren't MARXISTS either! You're asking us to defend something WE DON'T BELIEVE! (How and Why would we DO THAT?!) What's more Obama's, done PLENTY to help America. (He cut YOUR TAXES, for example!) The economy has gotten better. Our standing in the world has improved. He could do a lot more, but for some reason he insists on listening to YOU PEOPLE, who have no idea what YOU'RE talking about, and no idea what HE'S really talking about either!)
Or they may not... Seeing as how that's not our position. We can't defend words that you put into our mouths, and we don't intend to.
Again, when you're asking us to defend a philosophy that is not ours, and all you;re really trying to do is trap us in some sort of "GOTCHA!" moment, no reasonable person should be surprised that you'll leave the conversation unsatisfied. Again: Drop these dogmatic assumptions, like "We're all marxists" and try LISTENING. You'll find out at least that you're wrong about what liberals think. On a good day, you might actually learn how wrong conservatives are about MOST THINGS. (And I'd LOVE to hear some of your "facts." Becasue I haven't heard a single one yet!)
Like, oh, I don't know... "That's a straw-man!" for example?
OK, fair question...
LOL! ROTFLMAO! Yeah.. REAL objective. So... we're supposed to buy into all those assumptions, concede EVERY POINT, and THEN tell you why we like Obama?! HAHAHA! That's HILARIOUS! How about: WE DON'T AGREE WITH YOUR PISS-POOR ASSESSMENT OF THINGS, for a start. How about: Your judgement is completely and utterly divorced from reality? (Or completely hypocritical, in relation to the Deficit.)
I'll say this unequivocally. If you get that for an answer... If you REALLY get that for an answer... You're not talking to a liberal, you're talking to an IDIOT. On the other hand, if you ask the question the way you did above, and you can't have a reasonable discussion assessing those various judgements... then YOU'RE an idiot!
Neither of those people has ever said anything like that in response to a question like the one you asked. I'm flat out calling BULLSHIT on that. Neither one has EVER answered a question like the one you asked, with an answer like the one you gave. You're full of shit. You're lying. BTW... you may not realize this, but Chris Mathews is no liberal. Don;t believe me? The VERY LIBERAL Media Matters for America named him [conservative] "Misinformer of the Year" in 2005. Again: Let's put down these sacred dogmatic assumptions for a moment, and try looking at the actual EVIDENCE for a change. It takes work, I know, but you just might learn a thing or two and come away a wiser person.
Again - you haven't demonstrated that it's a mental disorder. All you've shown is that you are in serious need of more accurate information. THAT'S the jobs of our schools and media. Informing you. Not dispensing RW propaganda like this crap. BTW... the media? NOT LIBERAL. That's just more trash from people that are so far to the Right of REALITY that any remotely objective analysis looks like moon-bat propaganda to them. The FACT is that the media consistently and predictably leans conservative. And that's ALL of the media. Note: MSNBC gives a daily show to former Republican House Representative and proud conservative, Joe Scarborough. No other station gives ANY regular shows to liberals. PERIOD. NONE. The myth of liberal media bias is just one more of those "sacred dogmatic assumptions" that you've accepted without any critical evaluation. It does not stand up to scrutiny. At all.
What the fuck school did YOU go to?! No one is being taught anything like this! America is taught OBJECTIVELY. We've done great good, and we've committed great evil. Considering that we were one of the last countries to finally abolish slavery, and it took a civil war to do it, I'd say that qualifies us as IMPERFECT. Nothing regarding the virtue or flaws of Christians OR Muslims is tough in any public school. PERIOD. To do so would be a violation of your first amendment rights, and liberals wouldn't have it any other way. If your school is teaching you that ANY religion is inherently good or ANY religion is inherently evil - SUE THEIR ASSES OFF. Because that's against the law, and a violation of your civil rights. The earth is not fragile, and no one is being taught that. What is being taught is the FACT that it's ability to sustain life is. And we're not "taught" that we're destroying it, we're being SHOWN EVIDENCE that we're destroying it. There's a difference. Actually, plenty of lliberals think ethanol from Corn is a mistake. That's not AT ALL something that liberals support universally. Your view on sex - apart form being the very first example of a "lewd" belief (a word you used in your opening salvo) - is again, no more than a distortion. Keeping condoms from teenagers will NOT stop them from having sex. Teenagers have been having sex long before the invention of latex. We favor a frank, objective, well informed discussion, with actual facts so that you can make informed choices about sex, and we want condoms made available to anyone who DECIDES to have sex, to prevent the spread of disease and unwanted pregnancy. You mind telling me what's wrong with that?
Personally, I believe that it's LESS, but you're entitled to believe what you want.
You've summed up perfectly how I feel about most conservatives; especially ones who write, believe and distribute collections of lies and distortions like this garbage.
Oh.. you've got some major issues all right.
Yes, you started out with the assumption that it's a plague, and misery and a mental disorder. But you present NO EVIDENCE to support that. It's like I was supposed to agree with every bullshit lie you told and every bullshit assumption you made and in the end shrug my shoulders and say, "Yeah, you're right." The only problem? YOU DIDN'T ACTUALLY ADDRESS ANYTHING I (OR ANY LIBERAL) ACTUALLY BELIEVES!
All you did was start out by saying, "I can't believe you people actually believe this stuff!" and proceeded to rant about a bunch of stuff WE DON'T BELIEVE. If anyone wants to show me why Obama is such a lousy President, by all means have at it. The fact is, I've heard nothing but sharp, principled criticism of him from the left and nothing but outright lies and vile distortions like this crap from the Right. If your party and/or philosophy had any value, GEORGE W. BUSH wouldn't have experienced eight years of failure in which he accomplished nothing and backslid on every single issue facing this country.
And if you don't believe me, I defy you to name ONE ISSUE that we made progress on during his tie in office. I've issue that challenge before and no conservative has ever been able to answer it. None even made an ATTEMPT. So come on, let's hear it conservatives! Tell me ONE SPECIFIC THING that Obama has done wrong, or ONE ISSUE that George W. Bush made any progress on.
Gooooood luckwithat.
After reading a recent article posted on Autisable titled "Asperger's = Atheist?", it also made me wonder if liberalism in general is a mental disorder that can be found on the autism spectrum.
By liberals, I don't necessarily mean people who simply vote Democrat. Rather, I'm referring to leftists who have really lewd, extreme, off-the-wall beliefs.
Oh, this should be good. Remember now: LEWD, LEWD (!), off the wall beliefs!
For example, people who worship Obama like he's their God despite the fact that everything he has done in his 1 1/2 years as president has been a failure, as if they are proud that the failures have taken place (not to mention their only argument supporting him is that anyone who disagrees with him is a 'racist').
Then there's the people who believe that it's unjust for companies to grow too large or for people to become too enriched, yet they have no problem with a super large federal government and 90% income tax rates.
And in any case, NO ONE is proposing bringing that top tier rate back. NO ONE. If you heard we were, who ever told you that IS A LIAR. PERIOD.
Then there are the ones who claim the handful of sex scandal cases in the Catholic Church are an abomination and that the practice of Christianity should be limited because of it's "discriminatory" practice, like not legalizing gay marriage and abortion. However, they don't seem to have a problem with Muslims blowing up buildings, terrorizing towns and other countries, beating and killing women that don't cover themselves in public or sin against Allah, and stoning anyone perceived to be a homosexual even by an iota to death.
There's other things, such as their belief that humans are equivalent to other animals, yet they are the ones who somehow are capable of destroying the earth, as if the earth is fragile; and how they believe illegal aliens and terrorists should have more rights in this country than even actual citizens.
I'm not even sure what the first line means. Are you talking about animal rigths activists? Or people who try to protect endangered species? As someone with aspergers, I would not correlate a relationship between aspergers and liberalism.
That's generous, seeing as how you haven't presented a shred of evidence of that.
Rather, I would classify liberalism as its own unique mental disorder.
Wow, how profound, considering how you haven't presented a shred of evidence of that! (You've only proven that you do not, in fact, understand ANY of the positions liberals actually hold!) And as I said in the beginning, why don't you try examining and understanding something first, BEFORE you judge it or classify it.
Not many people consider liberalism to be an actual mental disorder because it's never classified or analyzed as such in our wonderful educational institutions.
Yeah... that's because our "wonderful educational institutions" insist on pesky things like FACTS and EVIDENCE to back up a theory, before reaching any conclusions.
It baffles me though how liberals will not only dissent from common sense, but will hold anyone who disagrees with their crazy world views in high contempt.
Okay, any group of people is going to argue in favor of their beliefs because everyone has their own beliefs and is entitled to them, but try to argue with liberals on why they think and believe what they think and believe.
If you ask them, for example, what has Obama done that has helped America or why marxism is an ideal philosophy to follow.
They may present reasons for these questions, but they are house-of-cards arguments at best.
Or they may not... Seeing as how that's not our position. We can't defend words that you put into our mouths, and we don't intend to.
When you try to present facts to knock down the house-of-cards to get them to provide more convincing answers, they don't answer those questions.
In fact, they try to dodge the question and bring up some stupid irrelevant comment.
Like, oh, I don't know... "That's a straw-man!" for example?
For example, you want to know from a liberal why Obama is such a great president who is good for America.
OK, fair question...
You even go as far as pointing out facts such as how every policy Obama has created has further damaged the country by continuously running up the deficit, imposing draconian regulations that are meant to punish businesses for being successful and benefit only the federal government, has hurt our relations overseas with our allies, and has considerably weakened our national security.
LOL! ROTFLMAO!
You desperately want to know what Obama has done that is so good for this country because the other side, who supports him, must have an answer that is reasonable, right? Wrong! All you're going to get is some verbiage like "Bush is a warmonger and and you're a racist if you don't support Obama!"
This isn't just psychobabble coming from stoned college kids who upkeep blogs on the Internet either; you hear this kind of nonsense from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and MSNBC news anchor Chris Matthews.
The biggest problem is this mental disorder has plagued our educational institutions and our media.
At all.
Kids are taught daily that America has been the most vile and corrupt country in the history of the world, Christianity should be shunned because Christians are fascists (while Islam is nothing more than a religion of peace), the earth is fragile and humans have been destroying it for the past three generations, capitalism is evil because people become rich and greedy, people who are for securing our borders are racists and should be fined and arrested (as opposed to people who actually enter this country illegally), using corn to fuel cars is an adequate substitute to oil despite the rise in food prices, and sex should be a daily activity encouraged in school by the distribution of condoms.
So, this may have come off as a political speech, but I believe it is more than that.
Personally, I believe that it's LESS, but you're entitled to believe what you want.
If a group of people have outlandish, extreme, radical views that they are unable to defend by reasoning and logic when challenged, then I do believe that said people have a mental disorder.
You've summed up perfectly how I feel about most conservatives; especially ones who write, believe and distribute collections of lies and distortions like this garbage.
Of course, I probably wouldn't be writing this if I didn't feel it was a major issue.
Oh.. you've got some major issues all right.
Liberalism has plagued Europe and is plaguing America. The only end result is misery.
